My stay in Istanbul was so many things – I can appreciate why a friend has visited no less than six times! Staying in Old Town Istanbul or Sultanahmet – which is within the wider faith district – is regarded as the city’s historic peninsula. So much to take in – the colours, the busyness, the culture. And of course the famous Spice Markets – an experience to undertake only when you’re well rested and armed with a strong resolve and a good sense of humour as you navigate the many stalls and their owners who vie hard for your undivided attention. The pieces I’ve chosen to include in this capsule known as Blue Temple, are wearable snapshots of my time there.
